OPPTIMA-TPL is the system for scheduled public transport fleets monitoring .

OPPTIMA -TPL® modularity enables :

  • real-time and / or final balance (AVL) location systems
  • comprehensive functionality and high added value complex monitoring systems (AVM).

OPPTIMA-TPL includes the following features:

Modules and Features

OPPTIMA Service ® – service certification

The module allows  to certify the service actually performed.

All data relating to the actual path of the vehicle (sequence of transits, stops, etc.) can be stored on on-board device and downloaded via short-range WiFi when the vehicle returns to deposit, or they can be sent in real time to the central via a long-range link.

All data is stored in the database, allowing the analysis of the service provided through the historical analysis tool (autoplay) in order to graphically display the actual location of each vehicle in the selected day and time period (the data can also be displayed in tabular form).

OPPTIMA DriverID ® – driver identification

The module allows to identify the driver of the vehicle via the smart card inserted in the personnel card reader (integrated in the terminal), indicating in the logbook the beginning and the end of the service.

Is thus kept track of what happened during the service and which drivers were driving throughout the monitored period.

If the OPPTIMA DutyManager ® module for the configuration of the shift is activated, the identification of the driver also allows to automatically send to the terminal the detail of the service to be performed .

The identification of the driver may also be used for enabling starting of the vehicle.

OPPTIMA DutyManager ® – shifts configurator

The module allows the configuration of  drivers’ shifts.

In case the identification of drivers module is activated, OPPTIMA DutyManager ® can automatically send to the vehicle the service assigned to the driver.

OPPTIMA lineEditor ® – graphical editor for configuration of the lines

The module allows to graphically define the lines of the service that have to be monitored  and allows to easily configure the races’s calendars (time, frequency, transit, etc.).

Alternatively, the data can be imported directly from third-party service planning systems.

OPPTIMA SecureVideo ® – on board safety

If the driver presses the hidden alarm pedal, the environmental listening is automatically activated and an appropriate coded signal is shown on the terminal’s display screen.

The operations center can then listen what happens on board and then activate the appropriate procedures.

In case a video surveillance system is installed on board, the activation of the alarm starts the recording of images captured by video camera (possibly infrared) to the on-board device and / or the real time transfer to the control center.

OPPTIMA VideoManager ® – camcorders management

If on-board cameras (doors, reverse, etc.) are installed on the vehicle and an RGB Video Grabber is also installed, the images can be viewed directly on the apparatus display.

When reverse gear is engaged, the back camera images are shown, and when the doors are opened, , the doors camera images are shown (it is possible the automatic splitting the screen into sections,  one for each camera).

In case a video surveillance system is installed on board and an alarm is activated, the images captured by video camera (possibly infrared) will be recorded on on-board device and / or transferred to the control center in real time.

OPPTIMA® Indicator – stop signs management

The onboard system is able to interface and manage the information to display on the internal (next stop) and external (race’s target) indicators. 

The system is able to interact with Ameli and AESYS equipments.

The flexibility of the system allows to easily integrate indicators and boards from different manufacturers.

OPPTIMA Info ® – intelligent stop signs management

The transits  forecasting system allows to provide information to users through intelligent poles.

On these poles, positioned at particular points of interest, is displayed information about the actual transits according to the real positions of the vehicles and any advance/delay on the roadmap.

OPPTIMA InfoSMS ® – SMS information management

The transits forecasting system allows to provide information to users through the use of SMS messages. 

The user sends an SMS containing the references of the line and / or the stop of interest (and possibly time), and automatically receives a reply SMS with information on actual transits according to the real positions of the vehicles and any advance / delay on the roadmap.

OPPTIMA InfoWEB ® – internet information management

The transits forecasting system allows to provide information to users via Internet.

The user, after the access to a dedicated internet service, can view information about the actual transits according to the real positions of the vehicles and any advance / delay on the roadmap.

OPPTIMA InfoIVR ® –IVR’s and auto responder information management

The module allows to activate a voice interaction auto responder for a fully automatic  provision of information to users.

Combined with the OPPTIMA ROUTEPLANNER ® module, allows, with the only indication of the desired start and finish stops, to provide information on transit times, routes and possible connections.

OPPTIMA Telemetry ® –telemetry data acquisition 

The module acquires, from the appropriate drivers, the vehicle’s mechanical (or chassis) data, like fuel’s consumption, pressure, temperature, etc.

Depending on the case, it is possible to capture data directly from onboard analog instrumentation (analog / digital input) or from intelligent control units using standard interfaces such as CAN (when available).

OPPTIMA Semaphore ® –traffic light priority management

The system is able to interact with traffic light systems for the management of transit priority of the monitored vehicles.

Through appropriate communications with traffic light systems is thus possible to ensure the green light to the passage of vehicles managed by the system.

OPPTIMA Fare&Ticket ® – ticketing management

The module allows the ticketing management in two modes of operation:

  • on-board ticketing management
  • third-party systems interfacing

In case the on-board system is interfaced with an intelligent electronic ticketing system, via the hardware interface ports, the system can interact with the ticketing machines using customizable communication protocols.

The information exchanges by the two systems exchange are defined in function of the characteristics of the service.

  In case the service provides the on-board sales carried out directly by the driver, the on-board system can be used as support for the identification of the tariff ,depending on the tariff plan and the user’s race. In this case, connecting to the terminal to an optional thermal printer, printed receipts can be delivered to customers.

OPPTIMA Tachograph ® – tachograph data download

The module allows to remotely download data from the vehicle’s digital tachograph.

The on-board system, with a configurable in advance deadline warning, alerts the driver of the need to unload data and consequently activate the automatic procedure for sending data to the control center (smart card insertion into the appropriate slot and boot procedure).

The downloaded data is stored in the central system and can be viewed at any time, also producing the necessary reports.

OPPTIMA MissionEditor ® – missions editor 

This optional module   allows to configure the assigned mission’s sequence of operations that each vehicle must carry out.

Missions can be modified in real time even during their execution, sending to the driver, directly on the terminal board, any service change(new appointments, cancellations, etc.).

OPPTIMA WebClient ® – web monitoring

The module allows to monitor the performed service both in real-time and at the end, via an operator station accessible via browser.

Depending on the profile of the user connected to the system, specific information are shown, including:

  • Map position of the vehicles (in real time and final);
  • service status for each vehicle (early / late than planned, in real-time and final);
  • Service events (alarms, messages, states, real-time and final);
  • statistical data for the analysis of the service (certification, regularity, passengers, kilometers, etc.).
