The Whalesafe project at the IWSC event in Qatar

The State of Qatar, through the Ministry of Environment and its partners Maersk Oil Qatar and the Shark Research Project Qatar, home  IWSC, the 4th International Conference on the whale shark (http://iwsc4.com/), from 16 to 18 May 2016 in Doha, to set research priorities and conservation and to promote international collaboration.

Proteco Group and Softeco Sismat will present the Whalesafe project (http://www.whalesafe.eu/index.php/en/ ) to the scientific community, to assess the possibilities of application in conservation activities of whale sharks.

The Whalesafe Project, run by University of Genoa, Costa Edutainment, the Harbour of Savona and Softeco Sismat, involves monitoring of cetacean movement through smart buoys and is co-financed by the European Union @LIFE_Programme.
