The evolution of the access network, with massive use of fiber (FFTCab, FTTB, FTTH), allows to reach both the single building units, both the mobile network radio sites.

It is one of the most important challenge for the country both for the massive investments and for the great benefits that would result from its development and the consequent ability to achieve the goals of the Digital Agenda For Europe.

Optimization of the sharing of passive infrastructure is a strategic issue to implement effective intervention models that relies on the full cooperation between public and private entities.

The optimization is strongly influenced by the architectural choice and use of the subsoil. Sharing actual infrastructure used to build fiber optic networks can be a strategic lever to dramatically reduce the necessary investments.
