HW Design

Softeco offers hardware design services through a team of specialists with expertise ranging from complex digital systems based on microprocessor architectures and programmable logic, to the most simple microprocessors, covering a wide range of solutions that can be applied to the sectors of telecommunications (PDH/SDH/SONET), networking, and industrial electronics.

Complex technologies are applied in several areas:

  • Microprocessor, microcontroller or DSP (Freescale, Analog devices, TI, NXP, Microchip, ARM) architectures
  • Programmable devices, like CPLD or FPGA, also high complexity ones (Xilinx, Altera, Lattice), with high bitrate interfaces and connected to high performance memories (QDR, RLDRAM, DDR)
  • Networking devices (switch, PHY) for data links on fiber and copper (Ethernet 10/100/1000).
  • High speed interfaces (PCIe, XAUI, SFI4, …) and control bus (LIN, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB)
  • Fiber Optical interfaces  (XFP, SFP)
  • Power Distribution architectures (intermediate bus, POL, LDO) and battery operation
  • High bitrates multilayers PCB (including multi material) through the use of high-performance laminates (FR4, Island, Megtron, Nelco and Roger) and backdrilling techniques
  • Thermal performance analysis and heat dissipation systems sizing both passive (heat sinks, heat pipes) and active (fan cooling systems)
  • Detailed mechanical studies (extrusions, molds …)

The laboratory has the following equipments and development tools:

  • Schematic entry tool Mentor DX Designer, Mentor Pads DS Suite, Altium Designer
    We can also operate on specific tools required by customer
  • Programmable Logic projects development tools Xilinx, Altera and Lattice
  • Pro-Engineer for mechanical design and modeling
  • Mentor Flo-Therm for thermal and flow analysis

  • Thermal analysis and mechanical design
  • Prototype test and debug
  • Testing and validation

  • Tektronix high bandwidth and sampling oscillopscopes

  • TDM and Data interfaces traffic analyzers SDH/SONET
  • Thermal chamber with humidity control for environmental testing
